August Blogging Challenge

Going back to work this month I knew it would  become an excuse to stop writing. When I thought about starting a blog earlier this summer, I was afraid I would lose momentum. So I wanted to create a blogging challenge to help me become a better writer while creating more content.

My hope is that you will join me in this journey whether that’s reading my daily posts, sharing on your own blog, or cheering me on.

There are a variety of prompts each day. I invite you to join me and share your experience using #SWMBlogChallenge across social media.

Follow me on Instagram and Periscope @MsAmandaSmith11 where I’ll be share more about each prompt alongside my blog.

Reflection on the #NameYourDay challenge

It was a joy completing the Name Your Day challenge again this month.  I met new people while spreading positive thinking.  It was fun to see others sharing their positive words on Instagram and Periscope!

Most days it helped me focus on the good rather than dwelling on the negative.  Surprisingly I had some very productive days for it being summer break.

Starting my morning on a positive note and looking at what I had planned for the day, helped me to be focused, motivated, and encouraged.

If you name your day a positive word share it on social media using #NameYourDay and #SparkWithinMe

I Choose Joy

It was hard to find a word for today. We are traveling home from vacation. I’m sad we are leaving. Wish we had another week here. It was so relaxing and fun to get away. I enjoyed spending uninterrupted time with my hubby. We could cuddle without a dog jumping between us or barking. We had fun exploring and trying new things.
Traveling today can be stressful with traffic and road construction. I need to draw on God’s strength for patience. I will choose joy.

With recent events in Dallas it saddens my heart yet again. We are a broken world riddled with sin. I seek God everyday for comfort, grace and love. I will choose joy.

John 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”

Be still my heart

I write to you from the beach of South Haven Michigan watching the waves roll onto shore. The summer sun is setting behind the lighthouse. It’s the perfect temperature of 78 with a cool breeze off the lake. We are tired from the sunny day spent at the beach.

Today I named my day calm. These consistent waves remind me of my everyday life. Always on the go moving from one task to the next chore. As I sit here enjoying this peaceful evening, I remind myself to be calm and listen.

Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know I that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will exalted in the earth.”
